Very good specs, good search, horrible ergonomics

This laptop computer has quite great specs (except the screen) - fast CPU, dedicated movie, excellent battery lifetime (actually seven-eight hrs on minimal load, two-3 hrs 3D gaming), DVD generate, USB 3., big multitouch touchpad.Outfit is quite first rate - trim, light-weight (for the 15" laptop), good keyboard. But the lid tends to preserve finger smears. The touchpad is foamy and mine was a bit crumpled (of course, appears strange) - seems untidy.Ergonomics... the worst I have at any time observed. Completely almost everything is mistaken: - ALL connectors are at rear. Want to plug a USB stick? Rotate the laptop. Link a second display? Fifty percent shut the lid and bend in excess of it to see some thing. Plug in the charger? Proper... you know what to do - electrical power-on and demand indicators situated on the front so you can see them only if you elevate the laptop computer - concealed energy-on button which you can't see when you open up the lid - pair of occasions I managed to push the electrical power button just when moving the notebook a little bit away from myself (as the button is on the front) - almost not possible to open the DVD tray without seeking at it initial to locate the eject button as it's not lifted at all and extremely hard to discover by touching

    cant shut down

had this notebook for a month and for the second time I am not able to shut it down ( besides for manually keeping the electricity button in, then on re-start off it shuts down straight away. I experienced to do a manufacturing unit re established and dropped almost everything on the hard generate in the process. phone calls to Acer technical help expense 10 P For every Moment ( an outrage) soon after the next issue requested for a replacement. As typical Amazon had been very useful in dealing with my problem but Acer buyer support leaves much to be desired

    Good all rounder

First device arrived lifeless - would not cost or energy up. This was returned to Amazon and replaced but I was remaining with the return cost 48.The laptop computer is effectively manufactured and the monitor affordable for the value. It is fairly quickly with excellent battery life. The pre-installed home windows 8 is horrible. This is the worst operating program I have at any time encountered and I will never acquire yet another Earn 8 Computer. Hi Mac from now on.In summary - great spending budget notebook but awful OS.

    Upgradeable

Just a note that when installing Linux, the monitor seems black, but it really is just that Linux does not set the Liquid crystal display backlight up properly for some Acer laptops, so everytime I start off it up, I have to use the keyboard to enhance the brightness. Also, regardless of what the Acer tech support Website states, it is feasible to up grade the mSATA SSD and put in the OS to it. I changed the 20GB mSATA SSD with a 256GB SSD and was capable to partition it and install Home windows 8 and Linux onto the mSATA although still keeping the 500GB spinning disk for bulk storage. The observe pad is spongy, the display screen is reflective and has a poor resolution (1366x768) and only the prime fifty percent of the notebook is made of steel, the base feels low cost and the energy connector will not really feel like it really is going to final quite long.Still, happy with the graphics card and storage ability.
